Fast forward to college. My diet was plain pasta, licorice and diet Pepsi. I was gaining weight, not sleeping well, short tempered, feeling depressed and began having panic attacks. I remember thinking… this is too much.
I can’t do this anymore. I don’t want to do this anymore. But how do I get off this roller coaster rapidly spiraling out of control?
HOW?

I took a brief leave from college, I needed to stop this runaway train.
I wasn’t able to figure out exactly what was wrong with me, but I began to see the importance of how we cared for and nourished our bodies.
When my son was two years old, we ended up in the ER late one night and he was diagnosed with croup.
For the next 3 years we were always on HIGH ALERT! We had a routine, I would get him from his bed, my husband would grab some blankets and we’d meet in the backyard where he could breathe in the cool damp air.
One night he woke us up. As I went to get him, I realized something was different this time. He wasn’t coughing so much as gasping and his lips were turning blue. I yelled to my husband, CALL 9-1-1.

Enough was Enough...
We found out that he was reacting to foods. He was unable to process simple nutrients causing his body to send
signals in the form of symptoms. Croup and eczema were his bodies way of saying HELP! As a chiropractor, I understood the connection and power of the nervous system in the body, but something was still missing. Food. The right food.
The right vitamins and minerals. And by right, I mean the vitamins, minerals and nutrients that support the various organs and systems in the body and at the right time. The right quality of food. The right combinations of food. So began my transition into Functional Nutrition.

As a mom, there is no worse feeling when your child is sick or hurting and you can’t take the pain away. As a woman, it is so empowering to know how to take care of your body and health. Our bodies are complete, but we must properly nourish and care for them.
As we travel through the various seasons of life, we often feel things start to go off course, our body is constantly re-correcting without us even knowing. If we end up going so off course – signals and signs are sent to alert us - symptoms. How AMAZING is that! We have the power to heal. We sometimes need support and guidance.
